Doors: check monthly

  • Door opens and closes smoothly, without jerking or unusual noise.
  • Door stays level as it moves and sits flat on the floor when closed.
  • No frayed cables, and no gaps in spring coils.
  • Tracks are straight, firmly fixed and free of debris.
  • Rollers turn freely and are not cracked or worn flat.
  • Safety sensors and reversing edge stop and reverse the door.
  • Seals at the bottom and sides are intact.
  • No fresh dents or impact marks on sections, slats or tracks.

Dock equipment: check monthly

  • Leveler raises fully, lip extends and holds.
  • No hydraulic fluid in the pit or on the floor.
  • Leveler pit is clear of debris and drains are open.
  • Vehicle restraint engages and releases; lights change correctly.
  • Bumpers are present and not worn through.
  • Dock seals and shelters have no tears or crushed sections.
  • Dock lights work.

Leave these to a technician

Spring adjustment, cable replacement and any work under a raised leveler are jobs for a trained technician. A planned maintenance visit once or twice a year typically covers lubrication, spring balance, fastener checks and a written report.
